Dearly beloved, we are gathered here to celebrate this thing called Vine. A wonderful video loop app, Vine, but we’re here to tell you. There’s something else: Snapchat, Instagram Stories and Facebook Live.
In the world of social media, an app that lives from 2013 to 2016 is a dinosaur. Most social networking apps never meet a subscriber threshold or level of popularity for them to see a first birthday.
A few years back, a lot of people blamed Instagram Video for killing Vine’s entire format. Instead of 6 seconds, it gave users 15 seconds and allowed them to share video loops on a platform that had more users and growing. It’s the same thing it’s doing to Snapchat some would say.
But Vine survived three years.
We’ll miss Vine! It was a great source of laughter for many. Vine created millionaires out of 17 year old kids, for goodness sake. It served its purpose and now must lay to rest. Go gently into that dear night, Vine.
Mic. has a quick little tutorial on how to save your Vine videos before they go bye bye forever that you can see here!
