How Sitting at work affects your body and productivity

sitting all day

Who knew sitting could be so dangerous? Actually, if  you sit in front of a computer a majority of the time you are at work, you are like 50-70% of people who spend five to seven hours a day sitting.

None of that sitting is good for your either. Sitting for long periods has health consequences, including increased risk for obesity and chronic disease.

Even one hour of daily exercise cannot compensate for sitting at a desk for a prolong period of time. Try to combat the dangerous effects of sitting by getting up and walking for five minutes once an hour. Also, stand while on conference calls or eating lunch. Start moving more during the day to help fight the dangerous effects of sitting.

This infographic makes the case for getting up and/or doing that standing desk trend you thought was stupid!
