Here’s something to think about for your next Spring Break vacation. For $25 each, you and your 3 buddies can now take an Uber to Tijuana or Cabo San Lucas, Mexico!

The ride-sharing app recently announced UberPASSPORT, a new option to pick up passengers from downtown San Diego to Tijuana Airport for about $100. A trip from North Park to Zona Central will run you $90 and from Pacific Beach to Rosarito, you’re looking at $160.

The new option will be available to access on Uber’s mobile app.

“Uber’s new passport program highlights the best of what San Diego has to offer by offering one of the world’s most innovative apps to bridge countries, business and families together in a way that has never been done before,”  said San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer.

Prices begin at a four-dollar base rate  adding 30 cents per minute and $2.35 cents per mile. Uber will also charge a $20 border crossing rate.

Your driver will only take you to Mexico, as you cannot catch an Uber from Mexico to return to the US. To return, riders can walk across the pedestrian bridge in Tijuana and call an Uber when they arrive back in the U.S.

All proper documentation is require while traveling across the border.

How it works

  • Open your Uber app and select the PASSPORT option within the vehicle menu
  • Request a ride and remember to bring all of the required documentation
  • Hop in your UberPASSPORT and cross into Mexico in one seamless trip*
