A Taiwanese startup has invented a device that connects to a smartphone and helps couples that are trying to conceive analyze a would-be dad’s sperm.
Aidmics has create the iSperm which initially was sold to breeding farmers to help them analyze the sperm counts of their boars.
The company plans to apply to the US Food and Drug Administration next year for approval to use with humans.
An app that comes with the device has a logarithm that allows it to count sperm and analyze its motility.
It only takes 17 seconds. Seven seconds to capture the sperm and 10 seconds to analyze it.
“Morphological assessment of sperm head and tail has never been this easy,” says the iSperm website.
It will cost between $100 to $200 when approved.
