January 6 is a significant date to the economy in two ways:
It’s the day UPS has dubbed “National Returns Day” because it expects Holiday customers, unsatisfied with their gifts or purchases, to ship more than a million packages back to retailers on that day alone. It’s not a happy day for online merchants who will have to augment their books to account for the revenue lost due to returns.
Oddly, data from job search site Monster.com indicates that the first Wednesday of the new year traditionally is also the busiest day for job searches on its site!
Getting cash from returns while looking for a new or second job. hmmmm
There is a correlation there, somewhere. We’re not sure what it is. Want to guess? (*smirk*)
